Where It All Begins

The quality of our rice starts with where—and how—it’s grown. California’s unique climate, rich soils, and clean water make it one of the most ideal regions for growing rice. But it’s not just the environment. It’s the expertise and commitment of our grower-owners that sets our harvest apart.

The Co-Op Supply Chain

As California’s largest rice cooperative, FRC manages every link in the supply chain—from the rice seed in the ground to the grain in the bag. Vertical integration means complete traceability, tighter quality control, and unmatched consistency. It also means better outcomes for our growers and our customers.

We take great pride in our co-op, and with over 500 grower-owners, we’re honored to cultivate a quarter of California’s rice, all from the Sacramento Valley.

The Coles

For over 50 years, Meg Cole has called the Willows Ranch home and the rice fields surrounding it— her life’s work. What began with a single crop in 1971 has grown into a thriving 900-acre family operation, now led by her son Lee. Together, they’ve built more than a business; they’ve built a legacy.

The Millers

Farming is in Jeff and Brenda Miller’s DNA. As fourth-generation farmers in Colusa County, they’ve built on a family legacy dating back to the 1800s—now running 1,300 acres of rice alongside the next two generations. With over 40 years in FRC, the Millers are committed to keeping Miller Ranch strong for decades to come.

The Donatis

For nearly a century, rice has been part of the Donati family story in Butte County. Today, three generations work side-by-side at Donati Ranch, carrying forward traditions that began in the late 1930s. As longtime FRC members, the Donatis remain dedicated to protecting the California rice industry for the next 100 years.
